25th June 2000 - [FOG]Orsos
Much has been going on in FOG with a lot of games recently against
some very good clans. Unfortunately we didn't fare as well as we'd like
in all of them. But the spirit of FOG fights on. Recent fights :
Also unfortunately as soon as [FOG]Execute had joined he was off again.
Sorry to see you go. Thanks for the games. We've had a few people interested
in joining, but not signed up anyone new recently. So we're still looking
for good players.
We also now have a channel on irc.barrysworld.com. It's #foghat. You
can usually find one of us in there if your interested in a game.
There are two new maps on the server that we feel meet the FOG level
of excellence. DM-RideTheDragon
and DM-StrictlyDiesel
You can find a link on the maps page for these files.

After what seems like an age I've managed to find time to update the
news page. We have all been busy playing and practicing for ladders.
Our biggest success has with out dough been in the UK, Clan members
that are worth mentioning are Drew,
WiseGuy,
and Mic,
they have been putting the hours in. Our last Game we were able
to field 7 players ! This is with out the USA wing.
New [FOG] Logo
A new fog logo is due out soon as is the long awaited Web site update.
I'm not going to say anymore on the subject as I know everyone's been
saying "Show me the money!"
[FOG] Experimental High Tech Underground Wing. "Cold Chamber"
I'm heading up a new underground wing of Foghat Woooter, this sub wing
of our clan is tasked with keeping upto date with ALL online gaming
developments, on any game format. We are currently looking at
other CTF mods for Quake
III. Now before you all start screaming and saying "NOOOOO",
it's purely an Experiment, We will and always will be UT, we just
need be aware of what's out there we are also looking at Diablo II and
other games, Members who feel as though they can contribute to
the Tech wing can write reviews these will be published.
Members PIC Comp
Recently we have noticed that the members picture gallery "Role
Call" has started to become a little bit silly. This
type of carry on must be continued at it is recommended that all members
update their pictures to reflect this. The bar was Originally
set By Orsos
when he provided us with a picture of himself wearing a gown from
a medieval evening he went to. Crypto
was then the next with his "Boys in the Hood" pic, followed
closely by Natas
who went to a graveyard and gave us "The Bird" pic.
I Updated my
pic by having my head shaved and having a henna tattoo drawn on
my head ! THE BAR HAS BEEN RASIED. Rules for the compertion
are that we now allow full color pic. Points will be given for
artistic content, extra points will be awarded for facial expressions.
There will also be super double extra bonus points awarded if whilst
making this pic a member of your family or spouse looks at you as though
your some kind of spac/spaz or loon. Let the games commence.
1st June 2000 - [FOG]Orsos
It's been a while since we've had any updates and a lot has been going
on in FOG World. We've had two new people join recently [FOG]HeavyHanded,
[FOG]ExeCute
So a big BAHOO and welcome aboard guys.
We've had games a plenty too. Our UK side is definitely in motion
nowadays. Recently we've had matches against
of which we've won two, lost two and drew 1. Not the best results, but
definitely not the worst. We're getting there. Check out the games on the
results page.
Thanks for the games guys.

Silly Silly Silly I've tried to start all my news now with the letter
"S" 3 times Why ? Well because something very silly is now going on
over on our battlecoms server setup. For the last few days we have
all been wondering how to signify the end of a game where Foghat has won,
allot of suggestions we had were things like like "Good Game", or
"Well Played", or Nice one" or "We rocked". All of these suggestions
were good but lacked that little extra, so it was late one night that
myself Taz & Crypto were playing on our USA server chatting away using
our Battlecoms setup to destroy and beat the enemy. The games ended
with us the Victors We had been during the course of this
game supping on a few beers, I had a Bud on the go, Taz
had a Canadian Brewski by his side and I'm not sure what Crypto had but
for the sake of argument lets say he had a Pale ale Anyway.....The game
had ended we had won and so we had a quick drink of our beers, I
then put the beer bottle (see PIC) a few inches away from my mouth and
blew over the top of it ! "Pnarharrrrr " Came the sound !
"Pnarharrrrr" crackled back form Crypto's ! "Pnarharrrrr" crackled back
from Taz ! We had discovered the [FOG] HORN ! Utterly by
surprise. The audio then for the next 10-15 mins was
simply our [FOG] horns sounding out echoing across the internet. So
we decided to immediately pass a new FOG mandate saying that after wining
a game each FOG clans men will hold his fog horn high and BLOW !

The [FOG]Horn ™

Skins Skins
Skins We love our Skins BUT ask this question of the average 56k user,
who has to download them to get on our server and battle with us, not fair
really as our skins in all their glory are over two megs in size.
After Careful examination of our server logs it showed that we are turning
away hundreds of users who click our servers and then say "Oh sod it
downloads" and drop off. Skins will now only be used for
big clan matches and for the occasional parade or in house clan
meet. "Ohhh but what am I going to wear ?" I hear you scream !
We shall all flip to the battle cow skin ! haha joke.....no really
FOG Clan will now be Xan Boss skin. This will be our default
garb for battles.. And on that note if anyone does wear that
stupid stupid cow skin then it's off to the whipping post for them.
ICQ V Web chat.
We all like are are clunky clunky web chat it's easy to use fun and
best of all works through work firewalls. However of
late our server has dropped at the weekend causing all of us to scramble
for or ICQ's or IRC clients trying to figure out where everyone is at
! Well we have the answer, this is one of the first times we
have used the Olde FOG law book, but I have attempted to create: FOG
EMERGENCY CONTACT PROCEDURE:
Fire up your trusted version of unreal tournament and done your battle
dress/hood (or what ever you like to play unreal in. Click on the
chat TAB ! yes we know no one ever users it apart from the the first time
you use unreal when u love to wail abuse at on liners then disappear off
into the ether. Join the default server that presents it self in
your server list AND JOIN A CHANNEL CALLED #FOGCHAT yes amazing we
will be there, if no on responds to your chats then just double
click on a member and it will tell you which server he is playing
on. Cool so all sorted we all know how to find each other if our
clan battle server dies (this has only happened twice in it's long and
hectic life)
OK DEEP BREATH...."FOG LADDERRRRRRR" (Repeat to fade)
We have decided to put something back into the clan community, and we
don't just mean lobe a few rockets down a fox hole. we have
noticed that one of the biggest problems facing a young and up and coming
clan is somewhere to play......and then when you do find somewhere to play
either the map rotation is all wrong or know one knows the password or
some freak decided to join the server and just reek havoc and call you all
fairies.. WELL. We are going to be offering all 3 of our servers up
for booking.
We are hoping (I'm being semi forward here as it's still and emerging
idea) to build a web booking site that will allow clan leaders to book
pre-configure our games servers all via an nice cute web interface.
This interface will hook into a lovely FOG database and pass this
information to our servers. Servers will restart in the
specified configuration at the assigned time and allow access and booking
for all our mates out there (Yep we really are nice guys). Just
watch our main news page for update and the public forum....
Our site is at also going through a revamp. OUR html head has finally
kicked his crack habit and is going to do us proud. I really
have no clue how it's going to look but
9th May 2000 - [FOG]Orsos
Well it's been an eventful few weeks and things are beginning to look
up again for the FOG-UK side. We've had three new people join [FOG]Wiseguy,
[FOG-Ger]mic
& [FOG]Drew.
So a big BAHOO and welcome aboard guys.
We've also had our first Clan game against some of the Ex-FOG players
who joined MMX. From all accounts it was a great game (was stuck
out in sunny Stamford, Connecticut :( ). We were totally outclassed. Great
game lads. We'll get you next time. Do not underestimate the POWER of the
Dark Side !!! We know your already worried :)
We also had a game this evening against CRG. The first was Deck-16 and
CRG just ran with this level and showed us how to play it. We were
outgunned and outran. Second map (Phobos Moon), we got back into FOG
form and began kicking ass and taking names. [FOG]Fox
played a blinder of a game, inspiring us all to new levels of play.
There is practice tomorrow night (10th May) for the UK
players. Be on the Clan Server at around 7:30 onwards. CTF will be
practiced vehemently (on CTF-Dreay). All comers are welcome to come play,
but please change sides if asked by the Admins.
23rd April 2000 - [FOG-US]Channel0
We have added a NEW modification to our UK server. We will soon add it
our other servers. It allows the following changes:
UT Clan Server
is an Unreal Tournament complete server mod preserving the rules of the
standard game types but adding massive functionality in cosmetics, skins,
and admin functions.
Features For Players
First, you register
your name, and no one else can use it on the servers.
Skins are submitted in three categories: public (anyone can use them),
clan (only members of a clan can use), or private (only 1 person can use).
Thus, you can submit a skin that can only be used by you on these servers,
and will automatically be loaded by any server using Clan Server. In
addition, as the author's permission is needed for any submission, this is
a way for artists to partially control their works.
The location summaries that were previously on the scoreboard of your
teammates (team games) are now located in the corner of your main screen,
more easily usable for strategy.
The custom skins on the servers are a partially optional download.
Although each skin averages 700k apiece, the server only requires you to
dl skins that are 20k apiece to play. Of course, if you wish to see the
hi-resolution versions, you have to pay the piper on a web site download,
but at least you can play with a much lower time investment.
Features for Clans
All of the features above, plus...
Your clan logo displayed on all your messages in any Clan Server for
each of your members
Your clan name displayed on the scoreboard of any Clan Server for each
of your members
Your clan logo, large and in charge on the scoreboard, as well as being
able to graphically insert your clan name in an artistic method of your
choice
Features for Admins
All of the features above, plus...
You can designate up to 20 people priviledged access so that even if
the server is full, that person can join the server (this feature is
controlled independently by each admin).
All of these features are automatic, controlled by a central server
that feeds your server the names, passwords, and skin names so that all
you have to do is use the code, put the pics of your choice on the
scoreboard, and update with the skin packs as the come out, and you are
done!
The skin packs average 20k per skin on the server side. This means that
even 100 skins are only a 2 meg download
for someone that has never used the Clan Server system before. And once
they have, its compatible across servers
All of this can be found here: http://www.utclanserver.com/utclanserver/
Get this server pack and save it to you textures directory. This pack
contains the clan logos.
CsMess001
For all of you in [FOG] go to the Members
Forum for [FOG] only to find out our clan ID and password this allows
us to register as a member of our clan when you join other servers. It
also asks you to define your own password. When you join a Clan Server it
pops up the UT password windows allowing only you to join and use the skin
and name. Our skins are beeing re done by Bryan to conform to the new
server style and will infact be super super high resoloution.
17th April 2000 - [FOG]Eag1E
The recruitment of good new European Clan members is still proving
difficult, we are a fun clan with good players - join us !
One positive note is that our recent recruit and only female player
Fox showed off her true skills in our last match against SuX which we
drew again (3 games and 3 draws against SuX !) by showing both myself
and Orsos up and coming top in the first game, congrats.
Also congrats to [FOG]Skinwalker aka Beery whose FOG male & female
Clan skins scored a whopping 93% & 91% respectively at the Painful Detail site.
We have now joined the European
Assault league. I think this could be a laugh, they use the standard
maps + 3 customs ones which all happen to be on the maps page. So grab
them there maps get pracitising and in a few weeks I'll organise a weekend
match.
Also finally, after several months delay, the Savage UT CTF league
will start April 20th. This is a big league with 40 teams and comprises
a 20min 6v6 game using the Standard + Bonus Pack maps with relics, along
with the excellent custom maps, Hall of Giants and Orbital Space Station
from Digital Extremes. If you havent got these maps already grab them
here.
The hardest part for us will be getting 6 good players to show, so get
recruiting !
17th April 2000 - Jaruzel
Darn, I just couldn't stay away... Anyway, I've fixed the LIVE Server
Pages they now show correct number of players and the player pings,
but in the process we've lost the ability to see what team people are
on. Ah well, guess we can't have everything. Notice I said 'pages' there,
yup, both servers are now listed and have a page each. I suppose I'll
find time in future to merge them into one big mother-of-all-server-pages...
one day.
29th March 2000 - [FOG]Orsos
After what has been a rough few weeks for FOG, as some of you may have
noticed, FOG-UK has had three of it's members leave. We're sad to see
you guys go, but every warrior must choose his own path. But that's
not the end of FOG-UK. We still have a good number of players in the
UK to play.
We intend to continue on the work done by some of the guys who left
and setup our CTF Wing and enhance our player base. To that end, we're
looking for some good/dedicated players interested in working in a clan.
Anybody interested should send us mail at Foghat_Wooter@Hotmail.com and let us know what your
interested in (i.e. CTF, DM, UK, US sections). Send us your NGStat ID
as well, we'll check you out to see if you have the warrior spirit to
be a [FOG] Warrior.
To put it another way "Come and have a go if ya think you're hard
enough!!"
Also, to all you [FOG] out there. We're going to be running practice
for the clan on Wednesday nights on the clan server. Maybe we'll invade
some servers.
27th March 2000 - [FOG-US]bing
Foghat Wooter's North American squad finally came alive Sunday night
with a pair of stunning back-to-back victories over Illegal Immigrants
"i2|" in teamplay.net
Team Deathmatch play on Deck16][ and Orions Barricade.
i2| started off neck-and-neck with the newly-regrouped FOG team on Deck16,
their map of choice for the evening. FOG soon began to pull in front,
however, by dominating control of key weapons and armor. Interestingly,
due to the size of the map and the 4 vs. 4 format, weapon domination
was much less a factor in the outcome than in most weapon-stay-off matches.
Neither team was able to cover enough ground to deny their opponent
a significant weapon for more than a few seconds. The armor and shieldbelt
were a different story. FOG effectively dominated both, giving FOG the
edge even when outnumbered in a skirmish.
i2|'s teamplay and sniping were impressive--they consistently formed
into squads and attempted to sweep the map, but lack of armor and weapons
often hampered their efforts as well, and ultimately FOG carried the
map, the score standing FOG
86, i2| 55 after 20 minutes of play.
The second map, Orion's Barricade, was FOG's choice and the reason
was clear. Working the basement unmercifully, [FOG-US]bing opened the
map with a 15-kill Domination, finally brought down by i2|VoltcOLt's
well-aimed Flak Cannon. Meanwhile, the rest of the FOG team kept close
control of both towers, along with the Rocket Launchers and outside
Flak Cannon, leaving i2| with little but the Plasma Gun and Sniper Rifle
to defend themselves. When the clock ran out, FOG led 114-29.
This was the first teamplay.net outing for a refreshed and reorganized
N. American FOG squad following a disappointing opening in that league
three weeks ago, and the practice time seems to have paid off. With
several more matches already scheduled for the near future, the North
American FOG squad now seems to be gaining their European brethren's
momentum as a UT force to be reckoned with.
25th March 2000 - [FOG]Eag1E
Assault lives ! All this talk of CTF, when UT first came out the game
type that grabbed me most was assault, and the FOG server ran assault
almost exclusively. It was then an orginal and challenging gametype
but as time passed ,the built in maps became tired and boring (except
overlord !) and online, 'tricks' were common place to cheat the levels.
It has taken many months for custom maps to reach the same level as
the original maps. The time has now come where they have been surpassed!
Check out the maps page for 3 mind
blowing custom Assault maps that u MUST download, its hard to choose
a winner but AS-Bridge gets my vote, but for eye candy AS-ColdSteel
wins it easy. Grab 'em all and for old times sake we'll switch the server
back to assault soon.
24th March 2000 - [FOG-NL]N33
Our CTF skillz r growing by the day. Practice session is on Saturday
either 1700GMT or 2100GMT and Sunday 1700GMT. Comms will be battlecom
running on an ip to be specified later.(check fogchat)
Everyone attending for the practice please make sure you have your
keybinds sorted and memorized. Things like "enemy flag carrier is here"
and "im under heavy attack" r way usefull on this level, since they
give FAST indications of where the battle is happening on a map. THESE
R CRITICAL!! They allso take some load off comms, and keep comms clearer
and more open instead of the case wheree we will all be shouting through
each other and noone gets to hear what the other is saying. Explaining
yer position on comms takes way more time then simply pressing "on my
way". Personally i have all my numpad keys bound to voice commands,
so i can reach em without having to let go of the walking keys.
18th March 2000 - [FOG-NL]N33
It has proven to be damn hard to win clan CTF matches of clans who
concentrate on CTF only , I'll mention BTF but there are more even waaaaay
better ctf clans out there. CTF is simply not as simple as it seems.
A good DM player does not make a good CTF player, and neither the other
way round.
Training as a group on set dates will be necessairy to feel what yer
teammates will be doing, to find strategies to get timing right and
simply to be able to take a stand as a team. These trainings can either
bet planned on fixed times or vary with the schedule of the CTF matches.
Either way, it will be necessairy that there will be people around to
train with.
It has proven to be difficult to get a team of players in the FOG server
for group training. Although several DM players constantly mention that
it would be a good idea to team upo and discuss tactics before a match,
for some reason it wont work and noone knows that will happen nor who
will play until the 15 minuts preceding the match.
Channel0 and myself have come up with the idea to call a new
CTF wing into life. This wing should be formed in the verry next future.
Participating in this team can be done by existing FOG members who prefer
playing CTF and new CTF specialized recruits, at whom im looking atm.
In short participating in the CTF wing will have the following consequences:
- First rights in playing CTF Matches. DM matches will be played by
preferrably stricly DM players.
- Training as groups. Certainly on variable dates preceding an important
match, and if there is animo allso on a fixed bases, maybe twice a week.
- Players who show up @ the training preciding an important match will
have priority over players who do not
In general, we will start trying to compete on the same basis as other
clans instead of playing together individually.
Looking at our current player list and the people who log into the
FOG server regularly I'd say that people who might want to work on this
would be Channel0, Budmaster, Tag, Taz, Bing, Crypto, Titan,
and myself. The other players simply log in less often or prefer to
play mostly on public servers. During the weekend this player setup
would give us enough players to gwet a team of 5 players up for training
, friendlies and matches. Midweek training would be a different story.
Of the players mentioned only three players are in the UK timezone,
which would mean we need more UK CTF players.
As said earlier im looking into some good CTF players atm.
To get this thing working the main asset would be the will to turn
up for CTF games with yer teammates regularly. If people fail to turn
up the moral of the intire team will go down rapidly. So players who
do not turn up regularly will be cancelled from the CTF team.
I am sure that most of you will agree with the general idea of an CTF
team. So next step would be to agree on which players will participate.
If people feel like participating in the CTF wing please post that.
We are a Clan with some of the best individual players on the NET.
We will be able to compete with the best of the best. But we neeeed
to put the time in to playing as a team. An oiled killing machine....in
which every player is of an equal importance
It is nice if you manage to grab the flag and bring it home, but if
yer own flag is gone you wont be able to score.
We all winn or we all lose. Personally i can say that im gonna be concentrating
on CTF from now on. That will allso implicate that my DM skillz will drop,
so maybe the DM team would need to look into new DM players as well. Post
yer ideas on how to get things working. Post whether you feel like participating
in the CTF team. Let the discussion begin.......SEE CHAT FORUM"
16th March 2000 - [FOG-US]Channel0
Our Web guy Jaruzel bids us a found farewell, Here our his words. "Even
though I was never a full time member of the FOG clan, I considered
myself as part of the group. As well as doing the site design, and the
backend scripting, my intention was find time to practice the game and
become a full clan member. Alas this has not happened, Unreal Tournament
has failed to excite me in the way that I had hoped, and I have found
myself focusing on other more interesting projects. So I bid [FOG] farewell
and good luck with all your upcoming clan matches."
A sad day for us all, but every cloud has a silver lining and what
a silver lining it is [FOG]Skinwalker will be taking over from where
"Jar" left off. we have some great ideas for a new re vamp, and Beery
has been itching to power up his Flash apps, so hold tight BIG UP..
Bahoo.
11th March 2000 - [FOG-US]Channel0
"Yeah Baby, Yeah Sexy Baby" We have a female [FOG] skin ! After a few
weeks of careful construction [FOG]Skinwalker has made us a cute litte
skin. We are still working on faces for her but she's got little [FOG]
eppaulettes on her shoulders a cute little tight end and a washboard
you could weep on! The zip files not out yet but will be soon, some
more work needs to be done on her team colour (cause she's so small
and cute ahhhh). We are enetering into a lod more ladders so check the
clan matches links for updated page. [FOG]Bing is going to sort out
a secure tactics forum for [FOG] only. while we all use web chat the
history it's just not enough so look out for new link. Pasword will
be in sync with our Roger Wilco™ one. On the same note we are looking
at better coms software too, one that may replace the audio lag sometime
heard when we have all the [FOG] guys screaming "Yesssssssss" on our
basestation :)
29th Febuary 2000 - [FOG-US]Channel0
Happy Leap Year Day! What a week! I'm sorry but I really picked a bad
week to give up glue sniffing :-) (Joke) After the release of the bonus
Pack [FOG]Bing tar'ed up the files and ftp'ed them up to our combat
Linux server. We all had lots of fun playing with the new models and
skin BUT what is the deal with that COW! I'm sorry called me old fashioned
if you like but a COW! What were they thinking? Sitting there playing
around with models and one guy says "I know lets make a combat cow we
had one in Unreal it will be perfect” What should have happened then
is someone should have stood up grabbed hold of a large fish, maybe
a trout and slapped this guy across the face a few times, screaming
"NO NO it's going to look utterly stupid, get out you fool!" Unfortunately
this never happened so we have to live with the COW and as for the Stupid
Lizard & Peasant models I'm not going to say anything."
Bonus Pack Maps. OK they boys did well, these we like, in fact we really
like then some are a LITTLE on the large side, The relics are a big
hit apart from the skull one that kills everyone in the room
We have kicked Vurt our of [FOG] his piss ridden carcass is now strung
up on the city walls. (hehe) the Chat forum has become very interesting
of late check out some of the posts there. We have a just had http://www.foghat.co.uk/ set up so if
your all reading this from any other alias delete it and burn this into
your CRT instead. [FOG]Satman is to thank for this, cheers. Clan ladders
continue and with it set CTF positions. You should all know where you
should be, either part of the Defense team, or part of a [FOG]Search
& Destroy Squad. You should have a good idea of whom your buddy
is and where to meet up before starting your attack runs.
END OF THE NEWS
